CHARACTER
CHARACTER NAME: Claire Bennet
SERIES: Heroes
CANON POINT: Season 3, episode 1 "The Second Coming" before Sylar cuts open her head.
LOSS: Her ability of rapid cellular regeneration. She keeps bitching and moaning about it, and wishing for it to be gone, and ... well, now it finally will be.

ABOUT THE CHARACTER: Claire is very stubborn. When she decides to do something, she does it with all of her heart. Whether it's cheerleading, finding out what she can do (in regards to her ability), or getting back at somebody, she will do it once she puts her mind to it. Schoolwork on the other hand... She's not a complete slacker- in fact, she's actually pretty smart for a cheerleader. Not outstandingly smart, but smart enough. Her grades are Cs/B-s but, considering that she's passing and retains a little bit of the information, she's not stressing too much about it. Recently, though, she hasn't been attending school since saving the world is more important in her eyes.

She used to be bubbly and happy, the first girl to laugh at a joke. That changed back in Texas, and almost came back in California before Noah was shot. She's not sure what to believe anymore and her perfect little average life is a thing of the past- something she'll most likely never experience again. She's still trying to adjust to everything that's going on in her life, keeping a brave face so nobody knows anything is up (but there are people who know/can see it). She's a good little soldier and will keep truckin' on, despite everything that has (and will) happen.

Claire can be dramatic. She's very animated when she's angry and can sometimes blow things completely out of proportion. She also has a tendency to be impulsive and does things without thinking them through, like with what happened with Brody and his car. She holds grudges for forever and has a lot of resentment and anger towards her father, despite her love for him. There are a lot of conflicting emotions with him, honestly.

She's naturally curious and asks questions about things that she wants to know the answer to. She's very blunt about it most of the time, but if it's something she doesn't want out in the open - like her ability - then she'll beat around the bush and make vague implications towards it. More often than not, however, she is very direct, especially in regards to her feelings on a situation. She's not afraid to call people out (even her own grandmother or father) when she doesn't agree with them and will go off on her own (if needed) to get the job done.

For some reason or another, Claire believes that she knows best. While her plans aren't the worst, they definitely aren't the brightest, and she isn't the best liar when put on the spot. West has pointed this out to her frequently. She is currently going through the process of figuring out right from wrong, trying to distinguish who to believe in her life, and still going through that awkward teenage phase where nothing ever makes sense, all the while trying to deal with her ability and all the crazy shit that's happened with it.

Because of her resentment and ability to hold a grudge, she can get very intense and violent towards those she does not like. Such as in the case of Noah and his insistence to keep working for the Company, when she completely bitched him out. She can be a vicious little teenager, so it's not advised to get on her bad side.

ABILITIES: Rapid cellular regeneration! Which means that she can heal from anything. It's pretty nifty. Her metabolism also speeds up.

THIRD-PERSON WRITING SAMPLE: Claire had never gotten sick before arriving here. The doctors at the clinic said that her ability had prevented her immune system from developing, which now led to her catching a cold about every other month. She hated it. If she had known that this would have been her life without her ability - stuck in some magical castle in the middle of a weird alternate dimension - she wouldn't have wished to be free of it. She guessed that the old saying really was true; be careful what you wish for and all that.

Her body shook violently as she coughed into her pillow. She groaned and stumbled out of bed, wishing under her breath for a bottle of water and a bottle of tylenol. They appeared in her hands almost immediately; it was one of the only good - tolerable - things about this castle. Besides Peter being there, of course, and the handful of friends she had gained.

Being without her ability, though, was a pain. Granted, it was better than losing a memory, but losing her power was turning into more trouble than it was worth. It was some kind of sick irony; wishing for a normal life and, when she's put in the most abnormal situation, being able to have the means for a normal life. No power, so serial killers coming back from the dead to chase her down and cut open her head.

Claire sat on the edge of her bed and took a few pills, immediately swallowing water afterwards. She stared up at the ceiling in the darkness, holding in a cough. Her colds never lasted for more than a few days, especially after the healers at the clinic got to her, but they were still annoying. Almost more annoying than Lyle.

FIRST-PERSON JOURNAL SAMPLE: voice |

After all the exploring, new friend making, death defying stunts, getting lost about a dozen times, and wishing for almost everything under the sun, what's left to do in this castle? I never thought I'd run out of things to do after only nine months.

And yes, I've already read some books in the library. But I don't think I want to spend all my time in this castle reading.

Next week is my birthday, but I was thinking instead of something for me we could just head out of the castle and have a 'night out on the town'. That's about the only normal thing I can think of to do for a birthday.

But there's not much to do for an eighteenth birthday party. Isn't it the 21st birthday party that's supposed to be the wild and crazy one? Not that I'm planning to stay here for that long, anyway.

INTENT: I think it would be interesting to play out Claire without her ability, as she's always like "woe is me for I am a freak" and thinking about what her life would be like without her ability. Hopefully it will lead to some interesting character development, and I love the playerbase here too much to not come back asap with another character.
